If there is a difference when do you know to use at which situation?
I tend to hear guys say Iya more than Iie is it a masculine/feminine thing?|||いいえ; mostly polite and formal
いえ; short form of いいえ
いや; not formal, women sometimes use it.
いやよ; women use this, not formal
いいや; strong feeling of negative, women seldom use it.
いな; old style, writing
やだyada、やだよyadayo; casual , men and women
just for your help.|||I've actually never heard some of them used, but maybe because I've only learned the main dialect and never actually been to Japan. -_-
iie - no (generally used)
iya - no (as in don't want to) more feminine, I think.
ie - means house -__-
Possible one that is used more by males is:
iyaa... - often used by men to express modesty when being complimented
