Can you get arrested for warrants ina different state?

I ask bc my bf has misdemeanor charges in florida and we live in ny, now weve met with the cops a couple times (id runs) and they have not mentioned them at all. Can they even arrest him? Does his warrants even show up?|||Misdemeanors are only valid in the state they are issued.

Felonies can be valid in all 50 states, but it depends on if the court is willing to deal with the time and expense of extradition.|||I think it depends on the county where his arrest warrant is filed. I know someone who has a warrant in one county in Illinois, but the police in other counties don't have access to that. I suggest your BF call the county or state sherrif and see if there is any way to find out if there is a warrant. Tell him to call from a pay phone (if you can find one) or another phone that isn't his. If it's a misdemeanor, they won't likely bother to do anything about it, even if they could trace the call.

Most likely, he'll be fine, but it's better safe than sorry.|||Misdemeanor warrants don't cross state lines although the cops in the other states can see them if they look. Only a felony warrant is "arrestable" outside of the state of home jurisdiction. And then the issue of extradition comes into play. If the home state won't extradite you (come get you and bring you back to be tried) then the cops may not arrest you.|||Yes they can on one condition. The state (where the arrest warrant was originally issued) has to confirm with the arresting agency that they will extradite. If they fail to come an get you in 10 days, they arresting agency has to let you go. god bless and take care of your warrants, they will haunt you!!|||I do not know about those two states, but in generally yes. If the two states cooperate with each other, they usually hold people up so the police from the other state can come and pick the up.|||if I'm not mistaken it is illegal to cross state borders if they have an warrant for your arrest.
