How much does an RN make an hour ina busy city like Philadelphia? read details?

I am going to school to be an RN and going for my BSN. How much does an RN make an hour in a busy city?|||Nursing has a wide range of practice. You will be starting a new career. Professional salaries are usually based on experience. You will be starting on a bottom rung. Even so, there is usually "over-time" available and you can quickly bring your annual earning to a significant range....once you gain some experience and prove yourself. There are bonuses for working off shifts and weekends. Other jobs offer on-call pay. Some hospitals will pay off school loans if you agree to work for them for a couple of years.

If you do a web search for RN jobs in the Philly area you should get an idea of the salaries. I think you might be in the range of 45 to 60K starting off....if you get with a larger urban hospital. You might want to check out the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Philadelphia...then you can transfer any where in the country and not loose seniority. You can go online to see what job postings the Veterans Admin. has....It has a pretty good Government Retirement. I dont live in PA. so I dont know the salaries first hand.

A number of young nurse's that aren't afraid of working over-time (once they have expert competency) can make 80 to 100 k per year....working in a major metro area in hard to fill jobs.

That is my best answer! Good Luck!|||Like 30 to 40 dollars an hr very good money, There are so many Hospitals here (Philly) plus there is always a need for nurses plus you get sign on bonuses. Hope you do well!
