Whats the normal temperature for water ina a car while driving?

i think my water temp might be too high. last week my car over heated, i had to get a new radiator. now the temp is constatly on 90 degrees when im driving, is this normal ? or too high?

if its too high what else is wrong with it and how much does it cost to fix?|||90|||My husband said about 90 degrees when running, diesel cars are usually hotter|||90C sounds about right. 90F is way too cold. If it is 90 C you are all set. The car can run over boiling temp because the system is pressurized.|||90 degrees sounds about right. Engines differ slightly and some pressurised systems will run at over 100 degrees without boiling, but if you get a leak, they will boil over. The engine can handle a lot higher temperature than 90, but that is a good temperature to run at with water in.|||192-234 degrees f. The thermostat will open between 192 and 195 and the coolant fans will turn on at 234 f. so as long as its in that range its fine. 90 degrees F. is way too low, probably low coolant, a bad temp sensor or a bad thermostat. Have it checked out because low temp can cause terrible fuel mileage|||90 degrees sounds about right, the temperature in the coolant is controlled by the thermostat and depending on the manufacturer the temperature can range a bit.

Just out of interest the running temperature changes between hot countries and cold.

Did you find out what caused the overheating problem? Again the most common reason for overheating is that the thermostat sticks closed.

Ja.|||90 degrees is about 100 degrees to low.

Your thermostat will range from 165- 195 degrees

The perfect operating temperature is around 180degrees

If you are not about 160 your car is never going into what you call closed loop which is basically operating at optimum efficiency.

diesel engines run even hotter because the are a combustion engine which means you have no spark to ignite the fuel,

They rely on compressing the fuel until it explodes or combustion occurs. which is why they are much louder than gasoline engines.

If your are talking 90 Celsius your car is fine what was it running at before the radiator was replaced??|||it varies by model, but 165-190f is common. the conv. factor is 5/9x-32|||Depends on the engine but between 85-95 degrees Celsius and 185-195 degrees farenheit are normal operating temperatures for a vehicle. There is the odd one running hotter (Detomaso Pantera 217F).

So most thermostats you'd buy at the parts store will be either a 85 or 90c temp (185-195f).

I have a diesel that runs right around 90c and cars running a slight bit cooler.
