What does it take to become a communications or public relations person ina foundation?

I am looking to change my career and would like to know where to go first to pursue a position like this one.|||My wife has had a number of PR jobs...in reality PR is really in the journalism field and involves writing and design skills.

These skills are must haves!

Secondly, while schooling is important, even more important is experience. Like most journalism jobs, unfortunatly this begins at the bottom, often as an intern for little or know money.

Look for internships, even part-time internships...you're looking for experience.

Even getting through the ranks requires experience. Most organizations or businesses do not have many PR people, often only 1. This means to get better jobs you have to change positions and work for either different companies or different organizations.

Build experience, build a portfolio of your work, and look for opportunities to improve your media speaking and camera skills, your writing, and your design skills.
